Life has been fairly busy lately! I admit, it’s been hard to keep track of all the things, like getting my blog post out. But I knew that this Mahia mojitos recipe was one that needed to be shared before labor day weekend. Because it’s the perfect drink to sip on during the unofficial last weekend of summer.
This recipe is actually one from my dad. He originally found the recipe over on Food & Wine and made some small changes of his own.
In this recipe he uses Mahia, a spirit made with figs—you can snag a bottle here. It was actually a present my husband and I bought him, and he’s been trying to get creative with drinks he can make with it. This Mahia mojitos recipe is one of them.
Mojitos are typically made with a white rum, so if you don’t have a bottle of Mahia, you can always swap it out.
Muddle the ingredients
Using a muddler, squish down the mint leaves and simple syrup for a few seconds. This helps to pop out those flavors.
Mix together with liquid
Stir together the lime juice and Mahia fig brandy (or white rum) with the muddled ingredients using a tall cocktail spoon.
Top with club soda
Top the last of the glass with some club soda—at least 2 oz., but you can add more of it’s a bit too strong for you.
And that’s it! Garnish with extra mint leaves, if desired, and sip away.
