After posting my orange whiskey sour on the blog, I very quickly learned something: ya’ll like to drink! That cocktail recipe is probably one of my most popular on the blog right now, and since posting it I’ve had numerous people reach out to me about making more simple cocktail recipes. One person even asked for a spring cocktail that would be great for Easter, so I figured I would make one of my favorites: heavenly lemonade!
What is heavenly lemonade?
You’re going to laugh. Heavenly lemonade is basically a mimosa, but instead of using orange juice, it uses lemonade. Seriously, it’s that easy. It’s two-thirds sparkling water, one-third lemonade, and 100 percent amazing. The idea for this heavenly lemonade recipe came from a friend’s wedding, actually. It was served as a cocktail at a rehearsal brunch, and I was honestly pissed that I hadn’t thought about making it until then. I’m a huge fan of mimosas, so obviously the same thing could work with lemonade! How could cheap, 21-year-old me be so naive?
I use the cheap stuff
I know a lot of people will feel differently with what I’m about to say, but that’s okay, we’re all entitled to our own opinions. When I make heavenly lemonade or any kind of sparkling cocktail, I’ll get the cheap champagne. Why? Because if I have good champagne, I’m going to drink it straight, duh.
Now, the term “cheap champagne” doesn’t really apply, does it? Typically when you buy a cheaper sparkling wine it’s a brut, a prosecco, or a cava. Brut is a style of champagne, but it’s known to be a dry and unrefined version of it—hence why it is cheaper. I like to use brut in my cocktails, mostly because I’m a huge fan of dry wine. My favorite cheap brut to buy is André because it’s really cheap…I used to buy it for $8 at 7-11 in college. I mean, it was cheaper than buying liquor and much more enjoyable to drink. Maybe 21-year-old me wasn’t so naive after all.

What kind of lemonade?
Honestly folks, the sky is the limit. You can use whatever kind of lemonade you want. Regular lemonade, strawberry lemonade, or take a note from my book and try it with raspberry lemonade. I personally like the taste of Simply Lemonade in these cocktails, because it doesn’t taste sugary and overpowering compared to other lemonades on the market. Drop-in a few berries, and this cocktail is good to go!

Heavenly Lemonade
Ingredients
- 1 bottle of pink lemonade
- 1 bottle of brut or another dry sparkling wine
- Raspberries
Instructions
- In a champagne flute or wine glass, fill the glass 2/3 of the way with your brut or sparkling wine.
- Fill the rest of the way with pink lemonade, leaving some room to drop in a few raspberries.
- Don't want as much alcohol? Switch the ratio!
