Here are the questions I am asked most frequently about my work and business.
If you have a question for me that isn’t answered here, feel free to contact me.
What is your job?
Right now I work as a food and wine journalist, author, and I’m potentially pursuing a job in wine outside of writing. I’m a sommelier a Level 4 Wine Diploma from Le Cordon Bleu, and a journalist with 10+ years of writing experience with a focus on food, beverages, and nutrition. I’ve been published by dozens of publications, some of the most notable including The Kitchn, Eating Well, Taste of Home, Simply Recipes, Eat This Not That!, Reader’s Digest, INSIDER, Stacker, and more. You can read a sample of my clips here.
How can I work with you?
If you are interested in working with me, either on a story or assistance with your company or publication’s content strategy, you can either fill out the contact form or email me at hello[at]kierstenhickman[dot]com.
What are your rates?
As of now, I am not accepting below $0.50/word for articles and $75/hour for projects. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact me.
How can I follow your work?
I write a weekly essay over on on Substack about wine, with a focus on wine education, food and wine pairings, travel related to wine, and personal experience as I grow as a sommelier and wine writer.
Are you interested in sponsored parternships?
As of now, I am not interested in doing sponsored partnerships for this blog, which is no longer active. If you would like to discuss partnership opportunities for my Instagram or Substack, feel free to contact me.
If you are interested in a paid partnership with a publication or brand I am working with, you may contact them directly.
I do PR for a brand to be considered for publication. Can I contact you?
Yes, on two conditions. Be patient, my inbox is a nightmare. And spell my name right.
Can I use your recipe images?
Yes! You have full permission to use my images but you must give me full credit with my name and a link to my website, kierstenhickman.com. If the image is coming from a specific blog post, I prefer that you link that image to the post/recipe.
Can I publish your recipes?
I would prefer that a reader come to my website to read the recipe card I developed. Please do not share recipe details on your own site. However, if you would like to use the image from the recipe and link out to the recipe blog post, you are more than welcome to do so.
Are all the recipes yours?
Yes! All the recipes published on my site are original recipes I developed. If the recipe was based on a recipe that has been previously developed—either from a book or a website—I always give credit for any original inspiration that recipe came from.
