As you all know, today is Mother’s Day. Well, at least it is in the United States, I know other countries celebrate at different times. So I wanted to post a beautiful photo of my mama because A) she’s hot, and B) she deserves recognition for shaping me into the woman I am today.
Even when we’re over 1,000 miles away from each other, she continues to be a constant comfort for me during such a crazy time. I know I’m beyond lucky to have someone like her in my life, so today I wanted to praise her for the great mom she is.
Alright, here was my week. Let’s start off by talking about sourdough.
I still can’t believe it too me this long to perfect sourdough bread. I did a victory dance in my kitchen when I opened the lid during that halfway point while baking this sourdough loaf. I’ve had a lot of accomplishments in my life, but boy, this sure is up there, not gonna lie.
I am eager to share the recipe here, but I really wanted to do a step-by-step tutorial for all of you. I’ve had a lot of requests on how to make it, so I want to make sure I’m giving you a thorough account of how I make my bread so you can avoid the same mistakes I did while baking. It will be out soon—promise.
Okay, where to begin? So the sourdough bread was obviously big this week. Also, for some reason, I was incredibly proud of this snack piece I wrote for work where I recreated seven classic childhood snacks. The photos are really stinkin’ cute, if I’m being honest.
This weekend I spent a lot of time vision casting for my blog, which actually felt really exciting. I’ve been exploring other “content buckets” I can cover on my corner of the Internet that go beyond just the recipes I’ve been posting. Get ready to see all kinds of new content on here! I mean, I love sharing recipes and taking beautiful food photos, don’t get me wrong. But I have a lot of other things that I want to write about. And I have a feeling—after the success of my work from home guide—that you’ll want to read some of this stuff, too.
Other big news in the apartment: I’m growing herbs! Seriously, it’s so fun, I am in love with them. The oregano still hasn’t bloomed yet *sigh* so I’m wondering if I should try again with my leftover seeds. But the basil is popping and the thyme is slowly starting to wake up. Soon I’ll have fresh herbs to put in my meals, and hopefully, soon I’ll be able to hand out herbs to my Brooklyn peeps. Oh, what a day that will be.
For any of the writers out there, I really loved this Medium piece called Why No One Is Reading Your Writing. It gets pretty crazy in there, but just finish it off. It will make you feel motivated to keep creating and writing. I admit that’s a majority of what put me in the mood for vision casting.
Okay, let’s end this thing with another one of my favorite photos with my mom, because she’s the best.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone, and send your mama some love today.
