With the peach season almost coming to a close, I had to celebrate with one last summer hurrah by making a sparkling peach white sangria recipe for Labor Day weekend! And since I’m a sucker for sparkling cocktails, I had to add some bubbly to this one.
This recipe was inspired by an impromptu taco night that took place at my house this weekend. We traveled to Connecticut to see my family for Labor Day weekend, and with no set plans for dinner on Friday, we decided to wing it with some tacos. And, of course, a huge pitcher of white wine sangria.
While I easily could have made some of my frozen strawberry margaritas for our impromptu taco night, I was kind of in the mood for something different. Sangria sounded refreshing, and with peaches being at their peak, it made sense to pair this summer fruit with a dry white wine.
You could make any fruit sangria with this
While I used peaches for this recipe, I do think it can be universal for whatever type of seasonal produce you want to throw in it. For example, as we start to say goodbye to peach season and welcome pumpkin-spice-apple-cinnamon season with open arms, I think we can turn this summer peach sangria into a fall-themed drink. Simply swap out the fruit with some apple slices, and better yet, use a sparkling apple cider instead of the sparkling grape juice! Throw in a cinnamon stick and you got yourself a fall cocktail.
Need to make it a spring sangria? Try it using strawberries instead!
How to make peach sangria
First, cut up two fresh peaches into thin slices. I leave the skins on the peaches, it gives them a nice texture (especially when nibbling on them after you’ve finished the peach sangria). I’m not a fan of white peaches, I prefer yellow peaches instead.
Next is the raspberries. Now I’m going to be honest, I used raspberries because I like them. But I think you could use any other type of fruit you like here! Add a kick of citrus with some pineapple, or try a different type of berry such as strawberry or blackberry.
Pour the white wine in next. I like to do this as a step because it makes the sparkling grape juice not fix up as much when pouring it over a wine. You don’t want to lose all of those bubbles!
Lastly, add in some sparkling grape juice. I used Welch’s Sparkling Grape Juice for this. Sparkling grape juice it gives this white sangria recipe that sugary juice flavor and adds those fun bubbles to the drink!
I found these beautiful glasses in my mom’s cabinet when I made them, so I had to snag some photos of the finished product! What do you guys think? Should I make more cocktail recipes?
