I’ve been wanting to kick off this series for a while now, and while I did have some reservations about it (would it look sponsored?), I came to a conclusion: If critics can praise things they love through reviews, why couldn’t I share my favorite products? After all, I am a food writer, and that doesn’t limit me to only recipes. It means I get to try all kinds of incredible products that are sitting on the shelves at your local grocery stores. So why not share the ones I really love with all of you? Think of me as your grocery assistant—someone who’s going to give you all the hot dish (ha!) on the latest products.
Y’all know that the best part of cookie dough ice cream is those little cookie dough bites. Don’t even try to pretend like I’m wrong. Digging into a scoop of cookie dough ice cream is like a little scavenger hunt. How many pieces of dough can you find? Will it be scarce or plentiful of cookie dough goodness? I even admit when I worked at Dairy Queen in high school, I always threw a few extra cookie dough bites in those Blizzards. I knew what the people truly wanted.
Imagine my utter delight when Enlightened reached out to me and asked if I wanted to try their new line of dough bites. I mean, duh. Of course. I didn’t even care that they were keto (although I know that’s a huge win for people). I was just super pumped to have a cookie dough treat in my freezer when I was craving some cookie dough goodness. No need to make an entire batch of cookies or get a carton of ice cream. A bag of these bad boys will do.
Currently, there are five kinds of Enlightened Dough Bites on the shelves. There’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites, Fudge Brownie Dough Bites, Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Bites, Birthday Cake Cookie Dough Bites, and Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough Bites.
My personal favorite? The Fudge Brownie Dough Bites. Oh my word. They legit taste like those fudge brownie bites that you get in your Dairy Queen blizzard. But much better. So, so much better.
Next in line would have to be the Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough Bites. While I did like the others, the Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough Bites taste just like the cookie. It’s wild. I can’t believe they were able to replicate the flavor so well.
These bags go right in your freezer, and they are immediately snackable! I was skeptical about eating frozen cookie dough at first, but they aren’t hard to eat. They immediately get doughy and squishy once you pop them in your mouth.
You can eat up to 24 of them for a serving and it’s all between 90 to 110 calories. Talk about the perfect little snack/dessert for your 3 p.m. slump!
My only note for you? There is a bit of an aftertaste. This is common for most keto products that are made with erythritol, a sugar alcohol substitute. I knew that would be the reality of this product. But being a fan of Enlightened’s Keto Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream, and also a fan of Swoon’s simple syrup, I’m pretty used to that aftertaste. It doesn’t bother me anymore.
And so, that’s the product! You can check out where to find these Dough Bites at the different stores near you by typing in your zip code. Here’s a link to their Dough Bites page specifically.
Did you end up giving Dough Bites a try? Let me know in the comments below if you did, and which flavor was your fave!
