Yesterday I posted a chocolate protein pancakes recipe that featured my new meal prep containers, and I thought it would be fun to simply give the containers a highlight. I’ve been on the hunt for meal prep containers for a while now, so I was pumped to find the perfect containers to fit my lifestyle—and fit well in my Modern Picnic lunchbox!
So why do I love these Amazon meal prep containers so much? For quite a few reasons.
First, the containers have two built-in compartments for food in them, which means easily separating the foods you have in your container. This is perfect for any foods you meal prep that you don’t want to mix together. Like how you would want to separate vegetables and pretzels from your hummus, etc.
Second, these containers are the perfect size for commuting around a city like New York. I may not be going to an office right now, but at some point in my future, I’ll likely be schlepping my lunch to an office again every day. And I admit, I absolutely hate carrying a big container around—especially if it doesn’t fit in my lunchbox. These containers are 6.9″ x 5.2″ x 2.5″. Perfect to slip into a tote bag and still leaving you room to stuff your book, agenda, and other essentials in there for your commute.
Next, these containers are glass, making them perfect for microwaving food (I’m really not a huge fan of microwaving plastic containers), and can easily go in the dishwasher without worry. Plus, there’s just something about eating out of a glass bowl during your lunch break instead of eating out of a plastic one, you know?
And lastly, they come in a set of six, which I find to be the perfect amount for meal prep. Personally, I meal prep four lunches at a time for the workweek, allowing myself to grab something fun for my Friday lunch. But if I ever wanted to meal prep five lunches for the entire week, or even meal prep four lunches and have two breakfast or dinner meals in the other containers, I could totally do that. After all, when I’m out working in the city, I tend to eat two or three meals away from home simply based on the timing of my commute or work events I attend. I end up carrying multiple meals with me.
As you can see, for this lunch bowl I featured a set of hard-boiled eggs, sliced cucumber, fruit (strawberries and blueberries), and a snacking cheese from my Imperfect Foods box. It’s more of a snacking lunch, which I’m a huge fan of. And these Amazon meal prep containers are perfect for it.
However, these containers are also great for full meals! If you are in need of some meal prep ideas, here are a few of my favorites.
