Do you ever have certain foods you crave when you go particular places? For me, when I’m home, all I want is yogurt. I have absolutely no idea why, but when I’m in my childhood home, I crave giant a Greek yogurt bowl with lots of fresh berries and toppings. You know what the funny part is? I never ate yogurt as a kid. So the obsession with it when I’m home is absolutely beyond me.
Any who, I traveled home for a few weeks to enjoy some fresh air and be with family after months of being quarantined in our little Brooklyn apartment, and the yogurt was the first thing I bought at the store. I bought a huge tub or Greek yogurt and a pack of beautiful strawberries to pair.
So of course, one morning as I was throwing my Greek yogurt bowl together, I figured I would photograph it. I mean, this recipe is so incredibly simple, but it’s one of my favorite things to eat during weekday mornings.
Even if there isn’t any cooking involved with this one, I knew I needed to share it. If it’s one I turn to when I meal prep, and is relatively cheap, you should probably know about it, right?
Toppings for yogurt are really up to you!
So obviously for this breakfast bowl I used particular toppings because I absolutely love this combo. However, this recipe is versatile. As long as you have a plain Greek yogurt and some honey to sweeten it up a bit, you’re good to go. Here are some other toppings you can try if you get sick of this combo in my recipe.
- Blueberries
- Raspberries
- Blackberries
- Pineapple
- Mango
- Honey peanut butter granola
- Pomegranate seeds
- Coconut chips
- Cereal
- Kiwi
- Cacao chips
- Banana
- Peanut butter (or other nut butter)
- Dried cranberries
- Raisins
- Walnuts
- Pecans
- Jam
Other cheap breakfasts to meal prep
This Greek yogurt bowl is one of my favorites to meal prep, along with numerous other breakfasts I like to snag, which I do call “breakfast snags.” Here are a few other ideas when you get sick of yogurt.
- Chia seed pudding cups
- Avocado toast
- Peanut butter overnight oats
- Chocolate chia seed pudding
- Ciabatta breakfast sandwiches
- Breakfast strata
- Buttermilk blueberry muffins
- Whole wheat waffles (prep and freeze to toast!)
Alright if you need it, here’s the recipe card! I hope it’s refreshing, enjoyable, and easy for your busy mornings.
